Creative Strategy
The big idea......
Modern day artists are struggling to find ways to earn a sustainable living through their craft. There are several reasons to this. Bad economic conditions over the recent years in the country has led to a depreciation in demand for creative based jobs/works. Some industry players say it is perhaps a lack of motivation in the within artists to tread a path in the creative arts.
On the other hand is All is Amazing, a professional photography company that is currently blazing a new trail in the photography industry. Notoriously well-known for capturing the night life sprawling throughout Kuala Lumpur. The coolest party in the region? All is Amazing’s probably the one snapping the night up. But they’ve got an issue at hand.
They want to be known as more than just a “the guys who take pictures at kick-ass events and uber cool parties”. They would like to be known as a visual creative consulting firm. To be the people who tell stories through narrative driven portraits. To send a message across through a thematic series. To be the one stop shop for capturing moments. Or as they say, “to take away the burden of photography”.
So how do we tie the two together? Simple. Artists have voices that need to be heard. All is Amazing has the resources for the artists to be heard. What if All is Amazing can provide a platform to motivate these artists while telling their stories at the same time?
This is where the big idea comes in. All is Amazing will capture and tell the stories of once struggling artists through a series of portraits and videos in an exhibition with the help of augmented reality. The key objective is to give a push the proactive creatives who are willing to break out and be hungry.
The exhibition will physically showcase portraits of the artists. However, the portraits of the artists are merely the first level of information dispersal. Using an Augmented Reality (AR) app compatible on all smartphones, visitors of the exhibition are able to scan the AR code attached to each portrait of the artists. Scanning it will open up a slew of other visual content related to the artist, consisting of a short video that tells their story, a brief write up on their background and other information relevant to the artists such as their website and contact details.
The usage of Augmented Reality allows us to push the boundaries of traditional exhibition one step further. A portrait now functions more than just a storytelling tool. It serves as a conduit that enables audiences to delve deeper into the work, topic or subject being showcased, which in this case are the artists.
